Labels change, prices change, and sometimes we get something wrong. This page records each change to the data, newest first. The methodology explains how labels are checked.

  1. Database expanded

We added 99 more formulas, including store brands, oral rehydration solutions, electrolyte waters, coconut waters and endurance drink mixes, and linked most products to their Amazon listing.

    Formulas in the database: 148

    • Gatorade Endurance Formula and Hydrant now have full labels, and four missing prices were filled in.
    • Gatorade Endurance Formula now uses its label serving of 12 fl oz (1.5 scoops) instead of 24 fl oz.
    • Products marketed for children get a product page but are left out of our rankings and the hydration calculator.
    • Electrolyte waters with little or no sodium, and products whose labels leave out calories, carbs, sugars or potassium, are listed but not ranked.
    • Prices never come from Amazon. They come from the brand store or another US retailer, with the date we checked.
  2. Launch

Sporting Drinks launched with a hand-checked database of sports drink and electrolyte labels, a hydration calculator and a sweat rate calculator.

    Formulas in the database: 49

    • When a current brand label disagreed with an older USDA FoodData Central record, we used the brand label. This affected sodium in Powerade and Powerade Zero, and several figures for BodyArmor, vitaminwater and Nuun Sport.
    • For powders and tablets where the label gives a range of water, we use the smallest amount. That is the strongest mix the brand recommends.
    • Nuun Endurance, Prime Hydration+ Sticks and BioSteel stay in our records but are hidden from the site. They are discontinued or no longer sold in the US.
    • Hammer Fizz, SaltStick DrinkMix and Nuun Instant are not listed. Hammer Fizz gives no water volume, SaltStick DrinkMix has no published nutrition panel, and Nuun Instant is discontinued.
    • Gatorade G2 and Gatorlyte Zero are listed as current because US retailers (Walmart and Target) still sell them.
    • Humantra and Hydrant are listed with some values shown as n/a, because neither brand publishes a full nutrition panel.
    • The vitaminwater zero Re-Hydrate flavor is left out. Its only published panel is for a 16.9 fl oz bottle, which doesn't match the 20 fl oz record.
    • Sqwincher means Qwik Stik ZERO, the only Qwik Stik still sold. Pedialyte Sport means the powder. Precision Fuel & Hydration PH 1000 and PH 1500 mean the drink mix packets.
    • Gatorade and Propel labels come from Target's product listings, because the PepsiCo nutrition facts site blocked our access.
    • BodyArmor Flash IV, Gatorade Endurance Formula, Humantra and Pedialyte powder packs have no recorded price yet and show "price not checked".
