About Sporting Drinks

Sporting Drinks is a free database of sports drink and electrolyte labels, with calculators that turn your sweat into fluid, sodium and carb targets. It covers 148 drink formulas from 59 brands.

Who runs it

Tim builds and runs the site. He is an indie developer who makes browser games and tools, and you can see his other projects at timmyships.com.

Tim is not a dietitian or a doctor, and nobody on the site claims to be. That is why every product page links to the label it came from and every research figure links to its source. You don't have to take our word for anything.

Why the site exists

Sports drink labels are hard to compare. One lists sodium per 20 oz bottle, another per stick mixed into 16 oz of water, and a third per scoop with a range of water.

Sporting Drinks puts every label on the same basis, per 12 fl oz and per liter, and compares it with published sweat research. The calculators then answer the practical question: for your session, how much sodium and carbohydrate do you need, and which drinks get you there?

How it stays neutral

  • There is no house brand. We don't make, sell or co-own any drink.
  • No brand pays for a listing or a ranking. Rankings follow the published rules on the methodology page.
  • Some retailer links are affiliate links. We may earn a commission if you buy, and it never changes the data or rankings. See the affiliate disclosure.
  • When we change data, the changelog says what changed and why.
